Glenn Maxwell fined for breaching IPL Code of Conduct

Punjab Kings’ all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been punished heavily by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Punjab’s high-scoring showdown against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday in Chandigarh. Maxwell was fined 25 percent of his match fee and handed a demerit point. 

He was found guilty of a level 1 offence under article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. As per BCCI, Maxwell admitted to the offence. While the particular article relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match.”

“Glenn Maxwell admitted to the Level 1 offence under article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the IPL release noted.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings secured an 18-run win over CSK, with Priyansh Arya starring for the Kings with a dynamic 39-ball century. On the other hand, CSK slumped to their fourth successive defeat of the season.
