Sanju Samson out of RR’s upcoming match against RCB

Rajasthan Royals will be without their skipper and star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson for their upcoming IPL clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. This will mark the second successive match Samson will miss after sustaining an abdominal injury during the Delhi Capitals’ match recently. He also missed RR’s previous match against Lucknow Super Giants.
“The Rajasthan Royals captain is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base in Jaipur with select RR medical staff. He hasn’t been included in the squad for RCB due to his ongoing rehab process,” the franchise said in a statement.
“The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action,” the statement added.
In Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag will continue to lead the side. Samson’s absence also allowed 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi to make his IPL debut in the previous game. He enjoyed a productive outing with the bat, scoring 34 runs off just 20 balls.
