Rishabh Pant explains the reason behind coming to bat at No.7
After Lucknow Super Giants’ heavy eight-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals on Tuesday in Lucknow, skipper Rishabh Pant, who registered a two-ball duck, addressed his decision to bat lower in the order at no. 7.
"[The] idea was to capitalise. We sent [Abdul] Samad to capitalise on a wicket like that, but after that [David] Miller came in, and we just really got stuck in the wicket, but eventually these are the things we've got to figure out and try to find our best combination going forward," Pant said after the match.
Pant expressed that the toss played a massive part in their defeat because the team batting second always gets a better pitch in Lucknow. After being put to bat, LSG posted a total of 159/6, which Delhi Capitals chased down in 17.5 overs.
"We knew we were 20 runs short. Toss played a huge part. Whoever is bowling first, they get a lot of help from the wicket. We just had to stay back, we just couldn't get it away.”
"It always happens in Lucknow, in the second the wicket gets better and better to bat on, that's how the game goes and you can't be complaining. Yes, toss is playing a huge part, but we are not looking for excuses," he said.
