The 44th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was called off on Saturday at Eden Gardens due to heavy rainfall in Kolkata. The match had already seen a thrilling first innings, but a sudden downpour washed out any hopes of a second innings, leading to a frustrating decision from match officials.
Punjab Kings, winning the toss and opting to bat first, posted a challenging total of 201/4 in 20 overs, with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh blasting 69 and 83 respectively. The duo formed a strong 120-run partnership for the first wicket to propel the side to a humongous total. Shreyas Iyer also made an unbeaten 25 off 16 balls to make his contribution.
As KKR prepared to chase down the challenging target, the weather in Kolkata took a dramatic turn. A heavy downpour interrupted the game after just one over of their innings.
