IPL 2025: GT eye top-two finish as they host shaky LSG

News

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 inches toward its climax, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are set to lock horns in the 64th match of the season on Thursday in Ahmedabad. While GT have their sights firmly set on securing a top-two finish, LSG are left to salvage pride after a season filled with inconsistent performances.

Titans have emerged as one of the most balanced sides this season. A major factor behind their success has been the formidable top-order batting lineup consisting of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. The trio has clicked with impressive performances game after game, laying the foundation for commanding totals or successful chases. And their bowling attack has been spearheaded very well by Prasidh Krishna. His death-over discipline has made him a central figure in GT’s dominance this season.

Meanwhile, LSG have had little to cheer about. Officially out of playoff contention, their journey this season has been marked by disappointment. Despite promising performances from the likes of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, who have consistently given the team solid starts, LSG have failed to convert those foundations into match-winning efforts. Now, as they head into their final games, the focus will be on identifying their weakness and preparing a strong unit for the next season.
