“Dressing room feels a bit strange”: KL Rahul’s swashbuckling remarks on Rohit, Kohli

As Team India ramp up their preparations for the five-match Test series against England, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has weighed in on the significant void left by the seasoned campaigners Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both veterans are set to miss the series, having retired from Test cricket recently. Speaking ahead of the series, KL Rahul highlighted how the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will undoubtedly be felt, particularly in challenging English conditions. KL Rahul, now one of the senior members of the squad, emphasised the need for youngsters to step up and seize the opportunity.
"Virat and Rohit have been the pillars of Indian cricket for the last decade or so, and not having them around will be a huge miss. In my whole career so far, I have never walked into a team where there is no Virat or Rohit. The 50-odd Test matches that I have played, either Virat or Rohit or both of them have been there," KL Rahul told his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals as quoted by Hindustan Times.
"To walk into that dressing room feels a bit strange. But of course, you have to respect their decision. They have given absolutely everything for the country and they will remain legends of Indian cricket. But it’s time for the rest of us to step up."
India, which will be led by Shubman Gill, will have the presence of experienced players Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Meanwhile, KL Rahul was in red-hot form during the BGT, scoring 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.67. Notably, he also had an impressive IPL 2025 season with the bat for the Delhi Capitals, capping off the season with 539 runs at an average of 53.90.
