ICC brings in new powerplay rules for reduced T20 games

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has brought in a plethora of changes to the playing conditions in the shortest format of the game. The changes have been made to the Powerplay rules in reduced T20 matches. Usually, the powerplay in T20 cricket consists of six overs, but in matches being reduced due to rain or any other reasons, the Powerplay overs will be decided in proportion to the traditional six overs in a complete 20-over game, according to new rules by the ICC.
According to revised rules, which will come into effect from July 2, for instance, a shortened match of 8 overs in an innings will now have 2.2 overs of Powerplay rather than three with two players allowed outside the 30-yard circle. Similarly, a five-over innings will have 1.3 overs of Powerplay.
For a six-over innings, the PowerPlay overs will be 1.5. For a seven-over innings, there will be 2.1 overs for a Powerplay. An eight-over innings will have 2.2, and a nine-over innings will have 2.4 overs of Powerplay.
