England have mounted a stunning comeback in the second Test against India, riding on exceptional centuries from Harry Brook and Jamie Smith to post a spirited 407 all out in response to India’s imposing first innings total of 587. At stumps on Day 3, India were 64 for 1 in their second innings, holding a lead of 244 runs.

After being on the back foot for the better part of the first two days, England needed something extraordinary to stay competitive. Harry Brook (158) rose to the occasion with a commanding century that for some time interrupted India’s momentum. His innings proved to be a statement of England's intent not to surrender easily. Jamie Smith, who celebrated his career-best score of 184 not out, played a key role in England’s comeback.

India, on the other side, after dominating with the bat, found valuable support from their bowlers. Mainly, Mohammed Siraj troubled the England batters, returning with figures of 6-70. Siraj’s victims also included England’s ever-dependable players Joe Root and Ben Stokes. Siraj took out Root for 22, while Ben Stokes was gone for a golden duck.

Meanwhile, India still hold the upper hand with a commanding lead. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell early in India’s second innings, but KL Rahul and Karun Nair saw off the remaining overs with caution and authority to guide India to 64/1 at the close of play on day 3. India, nonetheless, will look to bat deep into Day 4 to build an unassailable lead.
