England won the toss and decided to bat against India in the crucial third Test match on Thursday at Lord’s. England, who have already announced their playing, will look for a turnaround following their 336-run defeat in the second game. Going into the third Test, they have been bolstered by the return of pacer Jofra Archer, who makes a comeback to the side after four years. Archer has come in for Josh Tongue.

India, meanwhile, are riding a wave of confidence after bashing England in the second game to level the five-match series 1-1. They too have been boosted by the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who had been rested for the second Test. India have left out Prasidh Krishna to make way for Bumrah.

England Playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir
