BCCI provides update on injured Rishabh Pant
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update on injured wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, noting that Pant is still recovering from the finger injury and Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep the wickets on day 2 of the third Test at Lord’s. Pant was forced off the field on day one after he hurt his finger while stopping a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah down the leg side. He was hit on his index finger, leaving him in immense pain. However, he immediately received the medical attention but could not continue with the wicketkeeping duties and left the field.
“Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the hit on his left index finger. The BCCI medical team continues to monitor his progress. Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep wickets on Day 2,” BCCI said.
Following Pant's departure, India deployed Dhruv Jurel as the substitute wicketkeeper. India would want Pant to return to action as soon as possible given the red-hot form he has been in over the last two games.
