"We'll get 6 wickets in the first hour": England batting coach Marcus Trescothick

England’s batting coach Marcus Trescothick has exuded confidence in bowlers, saying they would be able to take six wickets in the first hour on day 5 of the third Test against India on Monday to set up an exciting victory. India need 135 runs to win the third Test to go 2-1 up in the series, while England are only six wickets away from sealing a comprehensive victory.

Chasing 192 for victory in the third match, India finished at 58/4 on day four, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal, Subman Gill, Karun Nair and nightwatchman Akash Deep very early. For England, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse and Ben Stokes were among the wickets, pulling England back into the contest. Heading into day 5, the match is perfectly balanced, with both sides riding high on confidence.

"It's going to be amazing, isn't it? Already we've seen four good days of cricket and two games, which have been well supported, but that last sort of hour or half an hour, the support and the energy around the ground made it amazing, really, didn't it? Everybody was invested into it," he said during the press conference.

"From an England point of view, obviously brilliant – we love those sorts of situations when the crowd is really up behind the team. Hopefully we can get a bit more of that tomorrow, and we can sort of push forward to winning the game."

Marcus Trescothick feels that England bowlers will be able to leverage the conditions very well to unsettle Indian batters.

“You kind of see a bit more bounce bowling from the nursery end while bowling from the pavilion end, maybe a bit more use of the slope where it angles back towards the stump. That's hopefully what we'll see again tomorrow, and hopefully it'll seam everywhere and we'll get 6 wickets in the first hour. A couple of late wickets in the day give them that hope that we're bang on the money, so it will revolve around the first hour of the day tomorrow. How positive India can be, how dominant we can be with the ball, and how many early wickets we can get," he said.
