“Won't even talk about…”: Former Indian cricketer makes gloomy prediction about Bangladesh for WTC 2027

In a bold assessment, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has predicted that Bangladesh stand no chance of making it to the WTC 2027 final. With the 2025-27 session having begun, all teams are giving their best in order to secure one of the top two spots. However, as per Chopra, Bangladesh could face challenging times in their upcoming away Test assignments that could diminish their prospects of making the WTC final. Recently, Bangladesh suffered a crushing 1-0 series defeat against Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series. The first Test ended in a draw, while the second Test was won by Sri Lanka by 78 runs.

"I won't even talk about Bangladesh because you don't reach at all. You don't even come in the list. People start looking at getting points when they play against Bangladesh, especially when Bangladesh are touring. Bangladesh trouble people at home for sure," said Aakash on his YouTube channel.

"Their away series are against Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They will host England, the West Indies and Pakistan. They can trouble England, Pakistan and the West Indies. They might compete against Sri Lanka (they have lost the series 1-0). They will get hammered in Australia and South Africa. They might not come close to qualification again," he added.

Currently, Bangladesh are positioned fifth in the standings with four points. Australia are dominating the points table with 36 points, and India, who recently drew a five-match Test series against England 2-2, sit in third spot with 28 points.
