UAE T20I Tri-series, AFG vs PAK: Rashid Khan asks fans to maintain clam ahead of the showdown

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has called for calm among fans ahead of the first T20I between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. The match, part of a UAE T20I tri-series, is very crucial for both sides ahead of the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025.
Rashid's appeal comes on the back of a troubling episode that unfolded back in 2022, where a match between Pakistan and Afghanistan was marred by crowd clashes at the same venue.
"It's a message to everyone who comes to watch the game in the stadium. This game is something that brings unity, brings people together, and brings nations together. I feel it shows the right message, a message of peace. Everyone coming to the ground should support their team, support the players, and have fun. This game is all about enjoyment. We play this game to enjoy it and give entertainment to the crowd. I feel like it is just a game. There is nothing bigger to it. I request people to come, enjoy themselves, support their respective teams and enjoy every moment of the game," Rashid said during the press conference.
Both teams would look to challenge each other to maintain the upper hand in the series. Pakistan will be led by Salman Agha amid the presence of senior players Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, who have played tremendous cricket over the past few years, will be led by Rashid Khan.
