2026 T20I World Cup to commence on February 7: Reports

The highly anticipated 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is likely to be held between February 7 and March 8 next year, according to ESPNcricinfo. The T20I showpiece event, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will feature 20 teams competing for the title. The T20I World Cup final is set to be played in Ahmedabad. But if Pakistan advance to the final, then it could be moved to Colombo in Sri Lanka due to bitter political relations between India and Pakistan.
This marks the second consecutive edition of the tournament to feature an expanded pool of 20 teams, following the successful implementation of the format at the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, which was jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA. The 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each group progressing to the next stage.
The eight qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four. The top two teams from each Super Eight group will advance to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, India will head into the tournament as the defending champions, having won the title last year after overcoming West Indies in the final in Barbados.
