PCB demands removal of match referee Andy Pycroft

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has demanded the removal of Andy Pycroft, who served as the match referee for the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match played on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. PCB has demanded that Andy Pycroft should be removed from the panel of match referees for the rest of the tournament. It all comes in the wake of the escalating handshake row between India and Pakistan players. Notably, India opted against shaking hands with their Pakistan counterparts either before or after India's thumping seven-wicket win over Pakistan. The PCB has lodged a formal complaint against him with the ICC.
"The PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC regarding violation by the Match Referee of the UCC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws pertaining to the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded an immediate removal of the Match Referee from the Asia Cup," Mohsin Naqvi stated on his social media handle.
This was the first meeting between India and Pakistan since the rising military conflict between both nations earlier this year. Meanwhile, India registered a statement win against Pakistan, beating them by seven wickets to clinch their successive victory in the tournament. Indian spinners restricted Pakistan, who decided to bat first, for a low total of 127/9 in 20 overs. Later India chased down the target in 15.5 overs with Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma contributing (31), (47*) and (31), respectively.
