Demonstrating a blistering display of power-hitting, Afghanistan’s veteran batter Mohammad Nabi stole the spotlight with his extraordinary hitting of five massive sixes during the Asia Cup encounter against Sri Lanka on Thursday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Nabi finally returned to his devastating best, playing a breathtaking innings of 60 from 22 balls.

Nabi’s fearless onslaught propelled Afghanistan to a formidable total of 169/8 in 20 overs, rescuing the team from a dangerous situation. With wickets falling at regular intervals, the pressure was mounting on the middle-order to rescue the innings. It was at this juncture that Mohammad Nabi stepped up to the plate, bringing a sense of urgency to the Afghanistan innings. Notably, Afghanistan had decided to bat after winning the toss.

He took a liking to Dunith Wellalage, starting off the 20th over with three consecutive sixes, followed by a no-ball from the bowler, and then ending with two more sixes in the fourth and fifth deliveries. Nabi took on every delivery with a combination of clean hitting and fearless intent. During his knock, Nabi also became the first player from Afghanistan to score 6000 runs in international cricket.
