Naveen-ul-Haq to say goodbye to ODIs after the World Cup

Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, who was recently drafted into Afghanistan’s World Cup squad, is all set to bid adieu to ODIs after the World Cup 2023. Naveen-ul-Haq had been away from action for Afghanistan for long but his inclusion in the ODI World Cup was a big relief for the team but the pacer has stated that he would be calling it quits from ODIs post World Cup. Naveen has mostly been involved into the T20 leagues all over the world and has been the dominant force in the shorter format of the game. Naveen made his ODI debut for Afghanistan in 2016 and hasn’t featured in any ODI game for Afghanistan since 2021. However, he has played seven ODIs for the team.
“It has been an absolute honour to represent my country and I would like to announce my retirement from the ODI format at end of this World Cup and will continue to wear this blue jersey in T20 cricket for my country,” stated Naveen on his social media account.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision to make but to prolong my playing career, I had to take this tough decision would like to thank the Afghanistan Cricket Board and all my fans for their support and unwavering love,” he added.
