Indian batter Virat Kohli has been the most resilient force in the cricket world over the past few years. Kohli has been the kind of batter who has transformed himself into a kind of batter who is always ready to take up the challenge and adapt to any kind of conditions. Kohli recently broke the record of legendary Sachin Tendulkar of having most centuries in ODIs. Virat Kohli smashed his 50th ODI century during the ODI World Cup to overtake Sachin Tendulkar who had most number of centuries in ODIs with his 49. Kohli has stamped his authority in the game of cricket with the amount of determination he carries towards his batting. Now, Virat Kohli is 20 centuries away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of having most international centuries. It will take a lot of time for Kohli to get to this record. Sachin Tendulkar has 100 international centuries while Virat Kohli carries 80 international centuries. Meanwhile, West Indies legend Brian Lara has said that it will be quite tough for Kohli to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of having 100 international centuries. 

“How old is Kohli? 35, right? He has 80 but still needs 20. If he scores five centuries every year he’d need four more years to equal Tendulkar. Kohli will be 39 then. Tough job, very tough job,” Lara told Anandabazar Patrika. 

“Can’t say with certainty, no one can. Those saying Kohli will break Tendulakr’s 100-centuries record won’t be taking cricketing logic into account. 20 centuries seem a long way away. Most cricketers can’t score that in their entire career. I won’t be adventurous and say Kohli will do it,” he added. “Age doesn’t stop for anyone. Kohli will break many more records but 100 centuries seems the most difficult one,” he said.

“My best wishes are with him. I’d be very happy if he could score 100 centuries like Tendulkar. Sachin was a dear friend and like I said before, I’m a big fan of Kohli,” he said.
