Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif hailed KL Rahul for his match-turning 101-run knock against South Africa that proved to be quite beneficial for India after they lost their top-order lineup in quick succession. KL Rahul showed his class while facing the South Africa’s intense bowling attack led by Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen. It was Rahul’s knock that helped India get to a good total of 245 in their first innings. KL Rahul managed to get his hundred while overcoming tough conditions as pitch was wet and conditions more or less were in favour of bowlers. KL Rahul reached his century with a cracking six off Gerald Coetzee. Rahul also became the second Indian wicketkeeper after Rishabh Pant to score a Test century in South Africa. This was KL Rahul’s eighth Test hundred.

“It’s not easy to hit a century at No.6. Very difficult conditions, overcast conditions It was a wet pitch, the ball was moving around. India were in a spot of bother. But KL Rahul stood there. What an innings. It’s a historic knock. Nobody will be able to forget,” Mohammad Kaif said in a video posted on X.

“Keep your mouth shut and let your bat do the talking, that’s what you have done well. The game was slipping away. India were in a lot of trouble. This historic knock had patience, it had class. It was a proper Test knock. Well done, KL Rahul,” stated Kaif further.
