Bangladesh name Najmul Hossain Shanto captain in all formats

Najmul Hossain Shanto has been named Bangladesh’s skipper across all formats of the game with BCB President Najmul Hasan Papon confirming the announcement. Shanto will be captaining the team for the next 12 months due to the uncertainty prevailing over regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s availability. Lately, in Shakib’s absence, Shanto has led the team. 

Shanto, recently led Bangladesh in their last two assignment against New Zealand. With the captaincy, Shanto will be leading Bangladesh in the upcoming T20I World Cup, but before that they are scheduled to host Sri Lanka in the multi-format series in March involving three T20Is and as many ODIs, while closing out the series with two-match Test series. 

Overall, Shanto has played (25) Tests, (42) ODIs and (28) T20Is for Bangladesh, wherein has he has accumulated (1449), (1202) and (602) runs respectively. In a major development, Bangladesh also named former captain Gazi Ashraf Hossain as the new chief selector.
