Sanju Samson to return as Rajasthan Royals’ captain
After a brief period of absence from captaincy duties, Sanju Samson is set to return to his leadership role for Rajasthan Royals following a clearance from the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to keep wicket. Samson’s absence behind the stumps had seen him focus solely on batting, but with the approval to return to his dual role as a keeper and captain, Samson will take back the reins of the team.
His absence allowed all-rounder Ryan Parag to step in as captain during the opening three games of the IPL. While Dhruv Jurel kept the wicket. Under Parag’s captaincy, RR recorded one victory from three games.
They lost their first two games, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but returned strongly to outplay Chennai Super Kings. They are now gearing up to face Punjab Kings in Mullanpur later this week.
