“Bumrah might retire from Test cricket”: Mohammad Kaif

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has suggested that Indian pace ace Jasprit Bumrah might retire from Test cricket very soon, citing concerns over his injury issues. Furthermore, a major dip in his pace during the ongoing fourth Test against England at Old Trafford has been noticed. Bumrah began the series with a strong showing in the first Test, clocking speeds up to 140 km/h. However, in the ongoing fourth Test, his bowling speed has been down significantly, ranging between 130 and 135 km/h.

"Jasprit Bumrah, I think, may not be seen playing in the upcoming Test matches, and he might retire as well. He is struggling with his body and even bowling slowly. There is no speed in this Test match," Kaif said in a video posted on his X handle.

"He is a selfless person. If he feels that he is not able to give his hundred for the country, that he is not able to win for the country, that he is not taking wickets, then he will himself refuse, this is my gut feeling".

Kaif also called upon the fans to get used to cricket without Bumrah, as he might put an end to his Test career very soon.

"First, Virat Kohli, then Rohit Sharma went, and Ashwin is not there. Now, maybe Bumrah also I think you will have to get used to watching Test matches without him."

Bumrah has faced repeated injury setbacks. Earlier this year, he suffered a back spasm in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy's last Test in Sydney, which sidelined him for a long period. Following the injury, he also missed the Champions Trophy.
